Stained Glass Holder

Supplies:
- Cube-shaped glass vase
- Lead-coloured outline paint
- Stained glass paints in red, green, yellow and blue
- Fine paintbrush
- Paintbrush cleaner to clean the brush
- Gold size and 2 sheets of imitation gold leaf
Instructions:
- Step 1.
- Using the outline paint, draw a grid onto each side of the jar, leaving the paint to dry for a few minutes between applications. When completed, let the outline paint dry for several hours.
- Step 2.
- Apply glass paint sparingly to the ""square"". Use one colour at a time to build up a pattern, allowing each coat to dry before moving the container. Leave 2-3 squares empty on each side.
- Step 3.
- Carefully apply a thin layer of gold size to the unpainted squares and leave for about 15 minutes until it is tacky. This forms an alhensive surface for the gold leaf. Be careful not to splash the outline paint with gold size, or the gold leaf will stick to that, too.
- Step 4.
- Break off small pieces of gold leaf and gently press them onto the sized squares. Use a soft, dry paintbrush to smooth the gold leaf over the surface.
- Step 5.
- Using the dry brush, carefully remove any excess gold leaf. It will brush off easily, so be careful not to rub it off the sized squares in the process.
