The Creative License: Giving Yourself Permission to be the Artist You Truly Are
Editorial Reviews:
Book Description When Danny Gregory's life was turned upside down by tragedy, he learned to cope by teaching himself to draw. The result was a complete transformation of his life, his priorities, his career, and the way he saw the world. In handwritten chapters full of his lush watercolor illustrations, Danny now offers readers a program for reconnecting to their own creative energies, using drawing as an example. He gently instructs us in the art of allowing ourselves to fail, giving up the expectation of perfection and opening our eyes to the beauty around us. The result is the permission to express ourselves fully and take part in the creative process without fear. Artist or not, readers of all stripes will find inspiration in this unique and beautiful book.

Review #2: Draws You In 2006-08-13 This book motivated me to start keeping a journal and drawing more. I'd been journaling for years but stopped soon after I read "SCRAPS: Adventures in Scrapbooking" (very funny essays but the book promotes journal slacking) then I picked up Danny Gregory's and I'm glad he shared his take on really noticing what's all around us in life in this book. Very cool, this guy.
Review #3: A winner 2006-07-12 This book should be kept at hand in your studio or any niche you use to create your work. The exercises are gasoline to kick start your creative habit. This is a book I'll refer to often. After reading this book and "Everyday Matters" I looked up Danny Gregory's website and subscribed to "How Magazine". I'm a new fan.
Review #4: I agree: worth SIX stars 2006-06-23 Artists who want to expand their minds and talents need to read this book. You'll find your creativity unleashed by this book. Thank you, Danny!
Review #5: Rising from the Ashes to the Creative You Are 2006-06-14 A must have in addition to Julia Cameron fans, and a beautifully illustrated guide to how the creative heart rises out of the ashes. |
