Customer Reviews:
Review #1: Christmas with Southern Living 2006 2006-08-25 I love this book! I give to my 3 girls as well. I have gotten this book almost every year since it was first published. It has decorating suggestions, crafts, recipes and just all kinds of information to make your Christmas the best ever.
Review #2: Recipes/Ideas I will use 2006-08-15 I have been buying this book each year since 1995. This one is the best ! I will actually cook most of the items printed this year. They all sound and look fabulous.
I'm not a big crafter so that part of the book rarely appeals to me. They have nice decorating ideas and gift wrapping suggestions along with other crafty ideas.
I love using the calendar in the book to record little items like the temperture and weather bits for some of the days. Cute things my children did are recorded also. I love looking back over the years at these entries and remembering the little things you don't think about when your family grows up.
Review #3: Awesome Christmas book!!! 2006-07-27 I don't agree at all with a previous review of this book. It is NOT 90% recipes. I think it is evenly divided between recipes and decorating ideas. The pictures are wonderful and don't repeat over and over as previously suggested. The book provides slow-cooker recipes which I am looking forward to trying this holiday season. Christmas with Southern Living 2006 is a MUST for any true holiday/decorator!! Buy yours today!!
Review #4: Good Book, but not as good as previous editions. 2006-07-15 I collect all the Southern Living Christmas books (I LOVE THEM ALL!), and this one was a little disappointing. 90% of the book was recipes. This book had very little crafts, decorating, or giftwrap ideas as in the previous editions.
I finished reading the book with the impression this one was just thrown together. Lots of repeating pictures, with little information. Too much FLUFF-- not enough substance.
What makes this book worth buying is the section about how to decorate a mantle in Fall AND Winter, using the same "bones" but changing out minor accessories. It's a beautiful section that is very inspiring.
I had hoped for more CHRISTMAS in this book-- it didn't deliver. It just felt like a cookbook with pictures inside.
