For every bride (and her mother), The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers provides an invaluable and inspirational guide for planning a perfect storybook event--be it a private family affair or an all-out bash in a hotel ballroom. Author Carley Roney, editor-in-chief of The Knot online wedding planning site, which has branched out to offer this and other books (like The Knot's Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World), provides extensive information, friendly advice, and helpful tips for brides of every budget. Special features of the book include beautifully illustrated glossaries of a wide variety of common wedding flowers as well as surveys of the various shapes and styles of bouquets, centerpieces, guest favors, and boutonnieres. How-to sections help the bride decide on her floral style and palette--deep red or purple flowers are popular modern choices, and of course all-white weddings remain perennially popular. Do-it-yourself instructions, clearly illustrated, help brides create their own flower decorations. And even brides with very deep pockets will appreciate the guide to choosing a florist, as well as the timeline planner and sample worksheets at the back of the book. Throughout, 150 glorious color photos seem practically fragrant. --Judy Fireman

Customer Reviews:

Review #1: elegant but not inspiring
2006-04-07
This is a book about bouquets, not wedding flowers overall. The title is misleading. The picutres are very simple and well laid out however, I did not find that there were many original ideas in this book. They bouquets were super simple and clean. I like a little more flair than what was presented in this book. If you like that very plain look, than this is for you.

Review #2: Wedding Flower Books
2006-03-15
I have been going through several wedding flower books and I find this one to be the best! They have realistic arrangments for people on a budget and they give a list at the back of the book as to what flowers are in season when. They also show several diffent greenery items you can use. It is great!

Review #3: Very Helpful

I can already tell that this book is going to ensure a huge success at my friend's wedding. We are doing all of the flowers and the book has given us great ideas and lovely pictures. I compared it to other books and it seemed to have the most color pictures in it, which help when you are following the photos. Just like several of the other books by the Knot.com it is well organized and has great check lists and timelines.

Review #4: very thorough and inspiring
2005-11-19
I loved this book. It's great for anyone who likes flowers, even after you plan your wedding. I don't know what people are complaining about in the other reviews--this book walks you through FIFTY of the most commonly selected flowers for weddings! How many more do you need? Most flower shops probably don't carry more than that throughout the year. There are beautiful pictures and descriptions, and the rest of the book is very thorough with info on how to choose the different floral elements of your wedding.

Review #5: Not practical for flowershop owners
2005-09-16
If you own a flowershop and want something to get fresh ideas from, this is not the book. It shows nice pictures of many different flowers, unfortunately some of them not commonly found at flowershops. Nothing practical for your clients to get ideas for their wedding. Disappointing.
